About the Author:

David Magee is a bestselling author renowned for his poignant memoir, “Dear William: A Father’s Memoir of Addiction, Recovery, Love and Loss,” which has garnered critical acclaim and national recognition, including being featured on CBS Mornings and earning a Starred Review from Kirkus. Alongside his literary pursuits, Magee is a respected speaker, delivering impactful talks on mental health and substance misuse challenges in schools, universities, and businesses nationwide. His guidebook, “Things Have Changed: What Every Parent (and Educator) Should Know About the Student Mental Health, Substance Misuse Crisis,” published in August 2023, is an expansion of the popular mental health and substance misuse talk he delivers in schools. Magee is the founder of the William Magee Institute for Student Wellbeing at the University of Mississippi, dedicated to supporting student wellness. His extensive career spans roles as a newspaper publisher, media company president, columnist, and author of several acclaimed books, including “How Toyota Became #1” and “The Education of Mr. Mayfield.” Magee’s commitment to fostering dialogue and awareness around crucial issues has left a profound impact on countless individuals, earning him widespread admiration and recognition.
