Coy E. MartinBoard of Director
Coy Martin resides in Nashville, TN and is currently working as the in-house legal counsel for a family office. Before taking that position in 2014, Coy was a private practicing attorney whose career started at the law firm of Zumwalt, Almon & Hayes, PLLC in 2008, which later merged with a Dallas-based firm to become Shackelford, Zumwalt & Hayes, LLP in 2011. His practice while at the firm was primarily transactional-based with a heavy focus on intellectual property, business and banking matters, and Coy has carried that experience over into the family office environment and expanded into various other areas of the law.
In 2003 Coy graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in history, and after completing his first year of a master’s degree in history chose to attend law school at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphrey’s School of Law in 2005. After completing his first two years of law school in Memphis, Coy then transferred to Vanderbilt University Law School to finish the degree, which allowed him to simultaneously complete his clerkship at Zumwalt, Almon & Hayes, PLLC in preparation to begin practicing at that firm.
In his own family and extended family Coy has witnessed firsthand the damaging effects alcohol and substance abuse can have on all aspects of a person’s life. So when the opportunity to become involved with the John Fontaine, Jr. Charity presented itself, it was without hesitation that Coy accepted a position on the board. He is now actively engaged in doing everything possible to see the charity fulfill its vision of getting ahead of those many problems through alcohol awareness and education for young people.
